HOMECOMING 2010
On June 4, 2010, the Village of Genoa and the surrounding communities came together to honor the military veterans and the brave soldiers currently serving their country at this year's Homecoming celebration.

Ohio Congresswoman, Marcy Kaptur, led the procession of military personnel, high school and military bands, and exhibitions of the hour-and-a-half long parade that ended at the historical town hall. Ms. Kaptur, then, presented to the American Legion, Genoa Post a flag and a certificate acknowledging the posts 90 years continued dedication to the men and women of the armed forces, past and present, and the surrounding community.

In addition to the parade on Friday there was food, carnival rides for the children, and carnival games for those that are a kid-at-heart. The evening drew to a close with a spectacular fireworks presentation, unlike any that had ever been seen before, some claimed.

Saturday, the second day of this annual event, dawned bright and early with a 5 K run with the runners ending the race at the Veteran's Memorial Park. Throughout the day there was live entertainment, music, food, a street fair, and carnival rides offered for the continued enjoyment of the attendees as well as Genoa's first cruise-in car show, in the afternoon, of the season.

Rayz Cafe' sponsored a Bike Run and Chicken BBQ on Sunday, with all proceeds going to the Honor Flight. Honor Flight is a network that transports, free of charge, veterans to Washington D.C. to be able to visit the tributes to them there and to reflect on their memories of the service they have provided toward the freedom of our country.
All in all this annual tradition took on a different feel and look this year but with the addittions of the fireworks, rides and the patriotism that enriched the atmoshpere, this was an event to remember!!

The Bike Run that was sponsored by Rayz Cafe on Sunday June 6, 2010 was very successful. There were 32 bikers that participated in this bike run. All the Chicken dinners were sold out and $1,000.00+ raised for the Honor Flight organization.
